The Story County Conservation Board is reaching out to you to determine your interest in helping accommodate an off-roadway trail connection between the Tedesco Connector Trail, emanating from the Ames area, to the Heart of Iowa Nature Trail, between Slater and Huxley. The trails are currently connected via the paved shoulders of County Highway R-38, marked as bike lanes.

Achievable trail alignments may be along road frontages (e.g. backslope of roadway ditch at the fence line), skirting tree lines, following drainage ways or contours, or paralleling property lines to minimize impact to agricultural fields or developed properties. With your voluntary participation, your property may be able to provide the safest route. Property owners may benefit from drainage improvements and stabilization, and new fences.

Below are the possible trail locations in relation to your property line when near the roadway frontage. If you have a drainage way or other property line that might work, please let us know.
